LATE LANNA STYLE, 19TH CENTURY

A bronze figure of a monk, seated in dhyanamudra (meditation pose), his face with a tranquil gaze, wearing a sanghati (monastic robe) with a broad sash over the left shoulder and an unusual knotted band at the midriff, the eyes inlaid with mother of pearl.

Provenance: From the Estate of a private English collector. Acquired in the 1970s.
