A dramatic, beautifully painted oil on canvas depiction of an episode from the Ramakien (the Thai version of the Ramayana epic) in which Lakshmana and a masked Indrajita engage in combat; embellished with flakes of gold leaf.

Indistinctly signed, in a black frame.

This painting depicts a famous battle between Lakshmana (brother of the principal hero Rama) and Indrajita (son of their enemy Ravana).

The Asian Art Museum, San Francisco has a fine manuscript from the Doris Duke Collection showing this incident- see cat. 104, p. 189 in Forrest McGill (ed.), Emerald Cities: Arts of Siam and Burma, 1775-1950, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, 2009.
